MyMac Podcast 656: Analysts agree with Gaz

Whether to be be smiling wisely and frightened beyond measure, many analysts are agreeing with Gaz that Apple’s interest in cars is as a service, not in the actual manufacturing of automobiles. Bloomberg wants to talk about tables, Apple makes a big glass out of itself with Corning, and sure, let’s give big government agencies backdoor access because based on the current ransomware they’re SO good at keeping it secret.

Bloomberg writes article related to Apple’s growth, but talks about tables

Apple tries to make big glass out of itself with it’s first award in $1B fund

And these were the people you wanted Apple to give a backdoor in iOS to?

Guy’s Pick: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on Steam.  $39.99

Gaz’s Pick/Tip: Been looking for a journal on my IOS device and the Mac at the moment it looks like Day One is the App everyone is shouting about, but I’m trying the free version of the App Reminisce which has an in App Purchase to get the full App of 2.99 on IOS and 4.99 for the Mac, so a really great price. The thing with these Apps are you really have to give them a good try before settling on them. So I’ll let you know how I get on but so far so good.

Regardless of what we say, Apple is NOT doomed. Especially with over 250 billion in the bank. Which we talk about in this show along with our vacation plans (because we can), Apple competes with Square and Venmo, and Apple has 80% of the smartphone market in China that sell for over $600.

Guy’s Pick: Hoggy by Raptisoft games free with in app purchases. Pink blobby ball looking for his blobby girlfriend while he dodges bad guys with gravity defying deafness.

Gaz’s Pick/Tip: Trying out a ‘Visio’ type programme on the Mac without paying a fortune, having fun with Diagrammix free 15 day trial and a pretty good $12.99 (£12.99 in UK App Store Grrrrr) or direct from diagrammix.com

MyMac Podcast 652: Death to iTunes

Apple patched iOS after researchers showed a website could use motion sensors to detect passcodes. This just makes me think how clever people are! (using the motion they could work out your codes)

Apple Has ‘Secret’ Team of Biomedical Engineers Developing Sensors for Non-Invasively Monitoring Blood Glucose. This is the future and I think a big money spinner for Apple, and I don’t mean this in particular but health related Apps and detectors in general.

We know it’s because we use our phones the way they’re supposed to be used!
Why Apple Is Beating (and Will Keep Beating) Google in Mobile Payments. “Apple Pay transaction volume up 500%”

Ah HA still Apple will have a car, well maybe. I still think that it’s the service that Apple are aiming for, a monthly subscription to traveullingggggg.

MyMac Podcast 651: GPUuuus

Well Apple is screwing with our Imagination, wait no, they’re screwing with Imagination Technologies because they are going to use their mobile GPUs anymore. Since that’s a main portion of their business, they have no imagination about what to do next. Also, Apple to sell a TV bundle which doesn’t exactly set the world on fire innovation-wise and apparently Apple is one of the few truthful companies when it comes to battery life

Is this really re thinking TV Come on Apple, I don’t think so!

I know Companies do this for ‘Jobs for Sales’ but I thought Apple were above this, though I suppose the governments are trying to support their economy and Apple want the sales 🙁

Guy’s Pick: Clips by Apple. A fun, easy to use little recorder for audio and video.

Gaz’s Pick/Tip: I had to do a flowchart at work, now we used to use Visio which I liked, but that doesn’t seem to be available anymore well not at a price that the company is prepared to had out licenses for. Well I found DRAW.IO and it’s an online application so yes I completed the flow chart at home on mymac 🙂 Some things make this not as integrated as it could be but I found that it had all the tools I needed and I was happy with the finished product.

The Turkish Crime Family have threatened the GMen! Yes, us and 559 million of our closest friends! Well, to be honest they have no idea who we are and we have no idea who they are. Apple knows though and iCloud users are being threatened with the destruction of their data if Apple doesn’t pay up! It’s all kinda Keystone Cop-like except this time the Keystoners are the criminals. Also, Guy MIGHT be right about something! Yeah, the GMen can’t believe it either.

What are Tim Cook’s most notable successes and failures during his time as Apple CEO?
Apple declining reputation corporately (umm size sometimes does that)
